We are talking in circles here, because I wanted to get rid of the
deleted emails in the mailbox in the first place. In the meantime I dl'd 
and installed KDE 3.0.3 and in the next week I will synchronize 
between my two workplaces taking also the .inbox.index file with
me and see what happens.

If the problems persevere, I will mail again.
