Subject: Bug#46154: deleting email over IMAP gives wierd feedback

Package: kmail
Version: 1.4.5 (using KDE 3.0.6 1 alpha1))
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.17
OS/Compiler notes:

When selecting a number of messages and pressing delete each message is fetched \
before deleting. This means that deleting one message takes nearly a second and \
deleting a larger number will leave me with a flickering interface for quite some \
time.

Pressing delete or reply at that time gives uncertain results and more importantly; \
the deleting of messages in this way gives me an uncertain feeling whether the right \
messages are deleted. The fact that I see the auto-mail-check still working while \
this deleting is going on only makes that feeling worse (did it not delete messages \
that came in between the start of the delete and the end of the delete?)

I suggest to either freeze the interface (disable all buttons/lists) as a quick fix \
solution. A modal-dialog with the progress would be nice if this solution is chosen.

The better solution would be to put a red-line through all selected messages and then \
deselect all messages. It is important to not show any selection in the list of \
messages while deleting! Then delete one by one the messages from the list as they \
are deleted from the IMAP server. The message area is showing the about-to-be-deleted \
emails for a fraction of a second as well, it would be nice if that is not done \
either.
