At least I have sometimes the chance to select a different message, before
this modal dialog appears. Possibly if the first or last message is already
fetched.
Independant of that I'm not a big fan of modal progress dialogs. Unlike in
some other mail clients until now all other network transfer works
non-blocking and in the background. All progress is displayed in the status
bar. This makes a few things more difficult in the code but I consider this
nicer from the point of view of the user.
