after reading RFC 2595 and looking at the examples there and comparing them to
kio_smtp and kdesasl, it seems that the current behaviour is indeed correct.
but i could be wrong, or exim could be broken (the former is more likely than
the latter, i'm afraid =).
is anyone actually having real problems with exim and PLAIN auth, or is this
another one of those, "it looks wrong according to my tricorder, captain!"
types of bugs?
