Package: kmail Version: 1.4 (using KDE 3.0.5 (CVS HEAD >= 20020327)) Severity: normal Installed from: compiled sources Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.10-4GB OS/Compiler notes: When I installed my system again after a crash I copied the mail backup to the Mail folder, but forgot to do a "chmod -R u+w *" in this dir. Therefore the files were all unreadable when I started kmail. kmail started without problems but immediately started bombarding me with message boxes that "dir XXX is not readable". I have quite a lot of dirs (~100) and in the beginning these windows popped up quite fast, but after message window 60 or so the boxes popped up slower and slower (~5 seconds for each). The problem was that my system became completely unusable and I also remarked that kmail (after complaining about the last dir) started again with the first directory :-( At this point I tried to kill kmail from the console which worked only partially: the kmail process was gone, but message windows still popuped ... :-( Finally I killed the Xserver. I know that this bug does not happen too often and I there might be also a problem with the message windows (when the number >60). Anyway thanks a lot for kmail which is the best mail client I have ever used!
