Wasp's nest alert!

As the other two replies to your mail indicate, there's currently much
interest in plugins for KMail. But we all know that plugins need a
stable interface. KMail currently lacks interfaces at all. The only
interface I can think of that could be used for plugins is for filter
actions. I'm not talking of AEgypten here.

If we start making Kmail from KDE3.1 plugin-able, then we will have a
mess of incompatible incoherent plugin interfaces down the road.

KMail _first_ needs to be refactored to the bone, _then_ we can look at
making plugins.

I _strongly_ vote for keeping plugins under the carpet for 3.1.

Yes, AEgypten will come with a plugin interface and KMime will probably
be build entirely around the concept of extensibility, but I don't see
a point in making the necessary interfaces public for 3.1, since
they'll likely change for 3.2.

So please stop watering the mouths of people with throwing plugins into
the game. _Please_

Marc
