i have a patch on my disk that does all of this, but it was regarded as 
duplicating too much code since the way the way the actions are set up in 
kmail makes it awkward to do it "right". the best solution would be if those 
actions as they are using in the KMMainWin were refactored to be more 
accessable or if a "virtual folder" type was created that would allow access 
to all those actions automagically.

if neither of those things occur before 3.1, perhaps i'll request that the 
working solution in my patch be considered for 3.1, since i think 
having a working solution is better than waiting for a perfect one to never 
arrive. even if it does mean a few dozen lines of code are duplicated, they 
can always be cleanly yanked out when a better solution is there.
