I did. The answer is that new users reply to the welcome message,
which was clear to me before. However, why anybody replies to a
welcome message and does not even write any text is beyond me.

Maybe the sender of the welcome message should be set to a blank.
Otherwise I fear we are going to get spammed once KDE 3 is released.
