Closing though.

In the next version we support also maildir format where every mail is stored
in a different file, that should be more save.

Subject: kmail crash corrupt inbox no repair tool
From: gregory.o@bnow.net

Package: kmail
Version: 1.3.2 (using KDE 2.2.2 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release) [FreeBSD]
OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 4.4-STABLE
OS/Compiler notes:

after a kmail crash,
inbox was corrupted,

don't know how to recreate the crash condition - it was while reading mail and \
selecting messages.

restarted kde, kmail looked ok, saw a couple of no subject emails that contained junk \
and just tried to delete them thinking it was some kind of spam, they seemed to \
duplicate themselves.

then i noticed that i couldn't read any of my 266 messages in my inbox.

now kmail shows a list of headers,
but selecting one doesn't display the message,
everything seems to be offset in some strange way.
problem only gets worse when selecting sort by date.

is there any way to repair a corrupted inbox ?

tried compact in the hopes that it had some kind of sanity check -
didn't improve things.
