Good. Then I will include this patch in the next version and close this
report.

Well, it's Free Software. Furthermore it's much more flexible and it can
handle user ids which contain non-ASCII characters (like umlauts)
correctly. PGP 6 doesn't handle them correctly as it doesn't store the
user ids UTF-8 encoded although this is required by the OpenPGP specs.
Furthermore PGP 6 is no longer supported which means that bugs won't be
fixed. And PGP 7 is still not available for Unix (apart from the fact
that it's source hasn't been fully published).

Ingo

Subject: Problems using PGP 6.5.8
From: hans@eichbaum.com

Package: kmail
Version: 1.3.1 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release) [FreeBSD]
OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 4.4-STABLE
OS/Compiler notes:

I've a fresh FreeBSD system and installed the kde2 package via the \
/usr/ports/x11/kde2 placeholder on my box. Everything works well except the PGP-usage \
in kmail. I am running PGP 6.5.8 and I've a .pgp directory in my home-dir, so nothing \
unusual. Whenever I want anything to do with pgp in kmail, kmail hangs and starts to \
eat lots of cpu-time. This happens on attaching anything asociated with pgp, so even \
on attaching my public-key to a message.
