'Delete mail from server' is enabled by default because it's the better
alternative. Normally a user just wants to download his mail once and
only wants to read it on one machine. People who want to access their
mail from different locations should either look for such an option
(you'll see it if you create a new account but obviously you didn't
notice it) or even better should use IMAP instead of POP3.

Ingo

Subject: Delete mail from server is checked by default
From: bernhardberger@yahoo.de

Package: kmail
Version: 1.3.1 (using KDE 2.2.0 -11)
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Red Hat Linux 7.2
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.7-10
OS/Compiler notes:

After I have add a new mail account (Settings/Configure KMail ..... Network ..... \
Incoming Mail -> Add) I have delete all my mails from the server by mistake, just \
because the option "Delete mail from server" was checked by default.

Which user reads all the options ;-) ?

So, I wouldn't make this option checked _by default_ to avoid lot of irritation for \
KMail-Newbies like me....
