From your previous mail memory use seems to be well under 
control. As Michael said the OS should start swapping if 
there is a problem with memory use.

I think the best advice is the advice Michael gave which is 
to use gdb to try to pinpoint where most of the time is 
being spent.

Random thought perhaps QTimers are accumulating and some 
repetitive process is being carried out unnecessarily 
often.
