Package: kmail
Version: 1.3.1 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.10
OS/Compiler notes:

If you type a tab at the beginning of the line, the cursor stays at the beginning of \
the line. If you type some characters now, they are placed where you would expect it \
( after the tab) but the cursor moves from the left char by char to the right as if \
you typed in the text without the tabs. In fact the cursor is not positioned where \
the characters are inserted.

Here's an example:
Typed text as it appears in the editor:
	Text after the tab.
Cursor position after the text:
	           ^
Which is exactly the same, as if you typed this without the tab:
Text after the tab.

That's really strange, since it's nearly impossible to make changes to those lines, \
since you don't know where the cursor is really positioned.
