No, it's not just a gimmick. Almost all my friends have at least two=20 separate email addresses. One for their working place and one for their=20 home. Now if I put all my friends in a distribution list how can I make=20 sure that they all receive the message at their home address. Making=20 two addressbook entries for each of them just because I'd like to reach=20 them sometimes under their work address and sometimes under their home=20 address would be really stupid. Supporting multiple email addresses is=20 imperative. I know that my idea might lead to inconsistencies if email addresses are=20 changed but using categories isn't an option either. I'm afraid that=20 unfortunately there isn't a satisfying solution for this problem. Maybe=20 it would be best to make distribution lists a KMail only solution. And=20 each time something is changed in the addressbook we should check for=20 changed email addresses and should ask the user to resolve any=20 conflicts. > Custom entries aren't possible in the old or new > addressbook. Adding arbitrary key/value pairs to the addressbook should be=20 possible because one can never now which information should later be=20 stored in the addressbook. As I already said, I'd like to store a=20 person's PGP keys (resp. the key IDs of those keys) in the address=20 book. And certainly some other apps also would like to add some=20 additionally information. Think about ICQ numbers, AIM nicks, etc. Regards, Ingo -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7zffKGnR+RTDgudgRAjf9AJ4wPiE43hC99ysrGKnSNxXc9XwrkACg3XRe gxUiL1s8at4sIQu4vu0Ly7Q=3D =3Die5T -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ kmail Developers mailing list kmail@mail.kde.org http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kmail
