I have been leaving my mail on the server for awhile. I 
retrieved the mail in question using HEAD and 
KDE_2_2_BRANCH versions of KMail without any problems.

For me for both copies of the message I retrieved the 
X-Status line is at the end of the list of headers. Custom 
headers exist and are formatted correctly and no spurious 
blank lines occur.
