If you don't have a permanent internet connection then this doesn't 
help. It will either simply not work or KMail resp. GnuPG will block 
until it times out or your computer will automatically open a 
connection to the internet. Furthermore I really don't want to clutter 
my keyring with many PGP keys of "unknown" people. I'd like to have the 
choice which keys should be retrieved and imported into my keyring and 
which keys shouldn't.
Last but not least we are talking about looking up keys for people we 
want to send an encrypted message to but who's public key we lack. 
AFAIK GnuPG can't automatically retrieve the right keys in this case.
