Just to let everybody now: I am still working on this, implementing the 
features/shortcomings that have been dicussed on the list.

However, other obligations have been keeping me from actually achieving 
something - I barely touch my computer each day. This situation will probably 
not change for at least another week (plus the time needed to catch up on 
current development).

The basic "template" functionality that I published a patch for some time ago 
did work perfectly for me, only the integration into the UI was missing.
