It's as easy or as difficult (depending on your point of view) like porting any
graphical  80.000 lines of C++ application to GNOME.

Anyways, the lyx team is trying to separate the kernel from the GUI as much as
possible, so it will be quite easy to add a GTK/Gnome frontend in addition to
the existing xforms and KDE frontends. Please contact lyx@lyx.org
