I saw a similar question in the forums, but I didn't see a resolution,
so I'm asking again...

I'm having a hell of a time getting the sounds to work on my Dell
laptop. I can play the wav files directly using 'play' from a shell,
but I get strange errors when Kismet tries to spawn it.

The details:

(from dmesg)
Intel 810 + AC97 Audio, version 0.21, 00:45:09 May 31 2002

(from syslog, when kismet tries to play sound)
i810_audio: DMA overrun on write
i810_audio: CIV 1, LVI 0, hwptr 800, count -2044

(When the sound craps out, these two processes are hung)
root 11960 0.0 0.1 2036 1016 pts/2 S 23:29 0:00 /bin/sh
/usr/bin/play /usr/local/share/kismet/wav/new_network.wav
root 11963 0.0 0.1 2368 988 pts/2 S 23:29 0:00 sox
/usr/local/share/kismet/wav/new_network.wav -t ossdsp /dev/dsp

These two commands both work from the command line when run as root and
as my kismet suid account, but I get an error:

[share@slacker shared]$ sox /usr/local/share/kismet/wav/new_network.wav
-t ossdsp /dev/dsp
sox: Sound card appears to only support 2 channels. Overriding format

I've fiddled with some of the soundopts in kismet_ui.conf, but no luck
so far. Can anyone help?
