There is a difference between the PNG/GIF example and SVG though, SVG needs style sheet implementation(CSS2) and XML. And a kpart won't work with the import filter for either killustrator or kivio. Ideally, we need an approach that works for both raster images and vector graphics( i.e. killu and kivio).
