then the chosen font does not support arabic text. install a font that does 
it and make sure when Xft is enabled it is used (the kcontrol module lets 
you configure fonts).

Without antialiasing konqueror displays arabic sites correctly (BiDi and shaping). \
With antialiasing enabled however the arabic characters disappear and konqueror shows \
little squares instead. Apart of that antialiasing is working (as far as I can see).
