Package: khtml Version: KDE 2.1.0 Severity: normal Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified The page http://www.koehntopp.de/zugriffe/usage_200103.html is rendered false in Konqueror, if the window is to small. Konqueror fails to display a horizontal scrollbar, but the right part of the table "Monthly Statistics for March" in the top of the page is rendered past the right margin of the window. Not all of the table is visible, and there is no horizontal scrollbar. A related effect is visible in http://www.koehntopp.de/comments.html, where part of the comment tables is always rendered past the right margin of the window (independent of window width), and there is no horizontal scrollbar ever. Both pages utilize a strange construct where a is rendered next to a
which is much longer than the
. This construct allows for very fast page rendering in Netscape and MSIE, and allows overly long lines to display past the right window margin without widening the whole text layout as if the whole page were a table with two
s next to each other. I am available for a longer explaination of the page layout and how and why it is done the way it is. I believe Netscape renders the page correctly, and MSIE does render is "somewhat right" (i.e. the MSIE interpretation of the standard is valid but ugly). Konqueror is closer to MSIE than to Netscape in its rendering. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org) (Called from KBugReport dialog. Fields Application, KDE Version, OS, Compiler, E-Mail manually changed)
