Greetings,

I have come to wondering if there is a standard way to implement the
following feature in konqueror.

In Kde 1x there was a feature that allowed a html page to be displayed in kfm
for a directory listing. In windows, there is a similar effect that occurs
which allows the nicer looking folders in explorer et al.

I'm wondering if there is a standard way to implement this? Does this exist
currently in kde2x?

Is there an rfc someplace that designates in more details a standard as to
how this is done -- excluding windows of course -- so that konq, nautilus,
and so on can all use interchangeable html rendered directory listings?

I'm assuming it would be implements somewhat as follows.

There would have to be a html template someplace as a default, prehaps that
could be over-ridden by a file in each dir, such as the trash dir, that
display differently.

In this html file, there would have to be tags such as <path> which would
insert the cwd. There would also have to be a standard way of listing files
to be drawn into a table to be put into part of the html. Then pictures,
etc, could be used to make nice borders, backgrounds, etc., sort of like the
html document that about:blank uses.

Should this be something that kde and eazel work together on?

Troy

Hrmmm, .desktop, NETWM, aRts... what's next? :P
