Ah yes, that's really nice !

Is smbclient available on all the platforms KDE supports ? (I'm thinking
proprietary unixes)... I mean, in terms of portability.

If you start this way, ask Simon for his copy of Corel's kio_smb, I'm sure
it will save you time - they made it as a wrapper around smbclient too.
