Some miscellaneous info regarding CSS:

1) The new text of the rules for absolute positioning is now public.
The working group found a quick way to publish them, viz., in the
errata of CSS2. See at the end of

    http://www.w3.org/Style/css2-updates/REC-CSS2-19980512-errata

2) The developers of MacIE5 don't agree that the rule for "stealing"
the background from <BODY> for <HTML> is difficult. In their words:
"It took us maybe a dozen lines of code, if that. It is trivial." On
the other hand, the Mozilla developers believe that it may be more
subtle than it looks, and that it is not sure whether any browser has
it fully correct to this date.

3) There is some feeling that a W3C document that describes how
browsers implement "quirks" (code to trigger rendering of HTML that is
backwards compatible with Netscape 3 and 4) is a bad thing.
Documenting quirks would amount to standardizing them, and it will
then take even longer before people stop using them.

4) How to implement form controls is a touchy issue for all browser
makers. Nevertheless, there is a general move towards re-implementing
the controls, to make them more stylable. Apparently people want to be
able to create pages with a platform-independent style.
