I simply use QComboBox and has his documentation indicates he uses GTK-style
default widget style, which is of course not working very well
(i.e. QCDEStyle is really useless). This is actually a bug in QPopupMenu. 

What widget do you use for the location bar thingie?
its no problem to switch to it if it provides a somewhat QComboBox
compatible API
