If I click refresh, rebuilding the window takes less than half a
second.

Renaming a file twice at a random time, I get window update times of
8sec and 12sec.
Renaming a file directly after the clock in the panel increases
the minute, the filename is not updated until one minute later my
screensaver activates (ok, rather aggressive setting). After entering
password, the window is updated. (Done so twice.)
It seems not so simple that it just takes a minute, though - I
switched off the screensaver and tried again, this time the window was
updated after ca. half a minute. ???

I am using the binary packages for SuSE 6.4 as provided from the kde
server. The installation is basically standard SuSE 6.4 (if you need
any details, just ask). I only added kde2 to the list of window
managers of kdm(1.1.2).

Side note: whenever I log out, I get a message from Dr Konqui saying
that some server process crashed (ksmserver, SIGSEV); I already sent a
respective bug report. Also sometimes konqueror produces a SIGSEV when
closing a window, I did not file a report yet since I could not
reproduce it and a stack trace was not possible. Just in case
something of this might be related...

regards,
Andreas
