Crash is gone with the current CVS sources.

Remaining problems:

a) java applet doesn't get embedded (old problem)
b) four jpeg's at the bottom don't show up 
c) mouse events are slightly broken when sliding across the menue
buttons from the right to left ("Welcome to" message is shown
constantly)
