The format of the output of the tar program changed between
1.12 and 1.13, thus breaking apps which relied on it (ark, kfm...)
There is no fix available, except downgrading to tar 1.12.
 
From KDE 1.89 onwards, kfm (now named konqueror) and ark don't
use the tar program anymore - no wonder why - for listing tars,
but do that by themselves.
