Each time i make changes to my screen savers settings, another copy of the
screen saver is started. The extra instances of the kss file seem to be
started when clicking on the OK button in the Display Settings dialog box.
(kcmdisplay) Clicking the APPLY button doesn't appear to start new
instances of the screen saver.

After changing the settings for the SLIP screen saver 2 times (clicking OK
between changes and restarting kcmdisplay) and then switching to the
SWARM screen saver, the output of a 'ps auxww | grep kss' command shows :

[sfagg@calvin ~]$ ps auxww | grep kss
sfagg 1315 0.1 0.7 5620 220 1 R N 10:54 0:08
/opt/kde/bin/kslip.kss -delay 5 -install -corners iiii -nice 12
sfagg 1387 0.0 0.7 5620 224 1 S 11:14 0:01
/opt/kde/bin/kslip.kss -delay 5 -install -corners iiii -nice 0
sfagg 1408 0.0 0.6 5620 208 1 S N 11:16 0:01
/opt/kde/bin/kslip.kss -delay 5 -install -corners iiii -nice 3
sfagg 1555 8.4 11.3 5636 3512 1 S N 12:19 0:01
/opt/kde/bin/kswarm.kss -delay 5 -install -corners iiii -nice 3

On my PC (P150) i'm using:
KDE 1.1.2 (RPMs)
RedHat 5.1 with kernel = 2.2.13
XFree86 S3 X server

This problem appears to have been around for some time. I noticed this
a long time ago when using earlier versions of KDE.
