I have been using RedHat 5.2 linux with the kde 1.1.1 download dated october
13th and I have gotten used to being able to use kfm to look into tar or tar.gz
files without having to explicitly unzip and untar them.

I noticed that bug reports (kfm 1738 and kfm 1750) address some of these
concerns, but they do not mention that It was working perfectly in version
1.1.1 dated October 13th 1998

I thought this additional information may be of benefit in fixing the problem
again.

When I used kde 1.1.2 that came with Mandrake 6.1 distribution the bug had
returned.
When the bug is present and you click on a tar.gz file a new window opens with
a list of subdirectories but the names of the directories are a number followed
by a dash and the name of the tar.gz file that it came from. (this does not
give you any information as to what the original directories contained)

Then if you click on one of the numbered directories KFM says that there are
no files in that directory, even when you know the original tar.gz file has
files in all of its directories.

I abandoned my Mandrake 6.1 installation and went back to 5.2 with the
kde 1.1.1 dated October 13th 1998.

Best Regards, and thanks for making the "Worlds Best Desktop Environment"
