I'd still be using Windows 98 and not Linux if it weren't for the work you've done. Bug, I think... I've been rooting around for the KDE GUI version number and have come up empty, but I can say it's the version included in Red Hat's 6.1 Linux release, which I'm using. When I use the CDROM icon on the KDE desktop to mount a CDROM, it mounts just fine (CDROM is listed in /etc/fstab with the appropriate permissions). When I use the icon to unmount the CDROM drive, however, I get the following error messages: /dev/hdc is not listed in mtab /dev/hdc in not mounted (and you are not in root) Needless to say, the CDROM doesn't unmount. I first right-clicked on the CDROM icon, and tried to change the the unmount point in the panel, but that didn't solve the problem. As a workaround, I went to fstab, listed /dev/hdc with permissions that mirror the CDROM's, and now the icon will unmount as well as mount the CDROM. But methinks I shouldn't have to do anything with hdc. Everything should happen with /dev/cdrom and /mnt/cdrom. I've used Gnome a bit, and its icon mount/unmount system works fine using only the /dev/cdrom and /mnt/cdrom folders. Any thoughts? Best regards, Pete Spotts P.S. I'm a Linux/KDE "newbie," so I apologize for mangling some of the nomenclature!
