Thanks a lot for the hint. I implemented it according to the docs in
khtml.cpp, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. I get the following
error messages:

KIOJob::createSlave : Slave got
 m_strSlavePass ok
konqueror (kdebase): SLOT_FINISHED 1
kio (KIOCache): RUNNING destructor 0x8217c00
kio (KIOJob): Slave died from KIOSlavePool
kio (KIOJob): Slave died from KIOSlavePool - protocol = http host =
babelfish.altavista.com
  
Could anyone who knows this stuff please have a look at it?
