It also happens if you try to load a JPEG file as wallpaper with kdmdesktop. The KFM problem is particularly serious, since it crashes ALL of kfm. The Debian packages on my system (apt-cache dump) contain libjpeg62, but not libjpeg61. I upgraded my kfm from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 for the bugfixes, but I didn't upgrade the whole of KDE because, when I had previously attempted this, I ran into the same JPEG problem with kdmdesktop. Now I've got a kfm that crashes whenever you point it at a web page that happens to contain a Jpeg. Helllllppppp! I don't understand the problem. I can undrstand "library is 61, but caller expects 62", but why can't the 62 library be backward-compatible with 61? At any rate, is there anything I can do that does not involve upgrading to the latest unstable build and compiling it myself? (which I am completely useless at; I can install Debian packages and copy binary files, that's all! Sorry to be so naive.) Best wishes, Silas
