Hello,

I use the KDE 1.1.2 version provided with Mandrake 6.1. I have two
problems with MIME types :

- the first is an old one. When I created a MIME type, it doesn't always
appear in the MIME type list. I've nevert been able to see why...
sometimes it appears after a reboot, or a day later. Most of the times,
it never appears and I have to delete and recreate the MIME type.
The same is true when I create applications in the K-menu. The
application, sometimes, doesn't appear in the list where I can choose
the default application with a MIME type... As above, sometimes I
just have to delete the application entry and create it again.
I'm not familiar with .kdelnk files. Maybe sometimes a .kdelnk file
is created with a syntax error ?

- the second one is new. I create some new MIME types and assocations at
a global level (in /usr/share and not in $HOME/.kde/share). The root
sees them all without problem, but the users not : most associations
  work, but a few don't. But I've checked in $HOME/.kde/share : there
is nothing defined there. So why KDE wants to open PDF files with
kghostview when I told it to open them with acroread ?

The first problem has always existed (I discovered KDE with version 1.0
a year ago), but I did not have the second one in version 1.1.1...
  Keep up the good work,

Thibaut Cousin
