IMHO, it'd definately be related to the MimeType. In my envisionment of a
"perfect world", though, I should also be able to override this on a folder by
folder basis. For example, if I add a new menu item for JPG files in my
'imagearchive' folder, this also includes any folders and JPG files underneath
that directory.

Crazy enough, though, the more that I read up on what's being done with Konqy
and KDE2, the more that I see that it's starting to take on the air of what
OS/2 was doing several years ago with their System Object Model (SOM). I'm
not sure who (if anyone) that reads this group is familiar with IBMs desktop
model or the way that they handled templates, file types, extensible menus,
containers (folders), etc., but having been an OS/2 nut for years before
getting hooked on Linux/KDE, I have to say that I'm seeing a lot of things
paralleling. Me, I think that's a good thing; they had a great desktop model
but aside from awesome compiler IDEs, the apps never came.
