I looked it at closer, and it's actually used, by 
kde-runtime/nepomuk/kioslaves/search/kio_nepomuksearch.cpp

But it's the only user, and we could work around it by redesigning this little 
bit of code, if you think we can get much speed improvement by removing 
remove().
