So dolphin from KDE SC 4.10.{0,1,2,3,4,5} are all identified as the same "dolphin 2.2" . I would suggest switching to the "x.y.z" scheme in KDE SC 4.11 , for the following following benefit: 1). Developers/Triagers no longer need to ask reporters questions like "I know/see you are using dolphin 2.2 , but which KDE SC version are you using ?" in order to figure out the real dolphin version . 2). Dolphin can better benefit from bugzilla's behavior of rejecting (crash) reports[1] against disabled versions. It is not fun or very helpful to still receive dolphin crash reports from KDE SC 4.11.0 when we are at 4.11.5. Many of them would have been fixed in later versions and be closed as duplicate. With the existing x.y version scheme, we either accept all 4.11.x crash reports, or reject them all when we are at 4.12 . With the x.y.z scheme, we can reject 4.11.{0,1,2,3,4}, but still accept 4.11.5 when we are at 4.12. By the way, dolphin version has not been bumped for the KDE SC 4.11 beta1 release. It is still 2.10.60 :) [1] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315073#c3
