I got one reply earlier to a similar query but did not solve the
problem.

I want to assign emacs as the editor used when I `view source' in
konqueror.

The earlier thread can be viewed at this subject and message-id

David F. was kind enough to respond but no resolution was arrived at.

Restating the problem:
Using Kcontrol at KDE Components/File Associations/text/
I was told to use `plain' but even setting both `plain' and/or `html'
to emacs or any of the others (kwrite kate). None of them are ever
invoked when I choose View/View Document source

I get a bouncing cursor that finally times out.

All three can be called from cmdline with no errors using simple
`$cmdname'.

I see nothing in ~/ that appears to show any errors from KDE.

How can I debug further?
