I recompiled XCB and was, therefore, reminded of this problem:
xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion c->xlib.lock failed
further research with Google, and I found this:

This clearly states that this is NOT an XCB bug. IIUC, the problem is
that KDE 4 is trying to lock it twice, or it is possible that the
problem is with one of the libraries that KDE 4 is using.
I started a bug for this:

and the log of my attempt to start kde is available there.
