It's not entirely clear to me what I should be looking for here. I do see
some ultra-questionable browser-sniffing code there, though.

I don't know if someone else may be interested in funding stuff or such,
but there is one thing you can do to get stuff fixed that does not cost
any money: file precise bug reports with testcases.
