which gfx hardware is that? radeon? The "speedup patches" for alpha-blended 
images that have gone into 3.5 tree have caused awful regressions there. 

if its nvidia, then its unfortunately a wontfix. nvidia has changed their 
driver to make firefox faster, and they will not re-add acceleration for 
"qt3's weird ways of abusing xrender". Unfortunately a proper fix requires 
someone familiar with qt and X and Xrender; and thats not me. Unfortunately 
qt4 did not fix this issue, so in the long term we'll have to work around Qt 
and add direct xrender handling in KHTML.
