From kfm-devel Sun Nov 02 00:39:27 2003 From: Zack Rusin Date: Sun, 02 Nov 2003 00:39:27 +0000 To: kfm-devel Subject: Disabling loader_jpeg X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kfm-devel&m=106773436729620 Ave, we're all aware of the fact that watching big jpeg files is almost impossible. I was trying to find a way to solve it but there's a _lot_ that would go into this thing. QMovie replacement including. There's no way we could properly fix it in time for 3.2. A solution which we might consider for 3.2 is completely disabling the HAVE_JPEG defined code in khtml for 3.2. The thing is that progressive loading is good if a file is rather big and you have a slow connection. In our case if a file is big we'll use all available resources and render the machine unusable for as long as the image is loading which defeats the whole purpose of having progressive loading in the first place. Any opinions? Zack -- 15% of the populace will never steal. 5% of the populace will steal almost anything not nailed down.
