KTempFile is already capable of this, of course... > But in addition to the .trash idea (independently from where we move the > files), metadata info file means lots of features possible, and no > conflicting filenames. indeed... thinking about it not just from a filesystem standpoint, ponder a structure such as this (as a trivial example): $TRASHDIR \_ fs.metadata \_ fs \_ \_ kmail.metadata \_ kmail \_ then kio_trash would need to be able to take URLs such as: trash://kmail trash://fs/some/deleted/file the metadata file would make it possible to treat deletions as "transactions", allowing one to undelete all the documents that were deleted together (where "document" is defined as any trashable item).. non-document oriented URLs such as: trash://kicker/mainpanel/applets/kmix would also be very attractive, though i'm not sure how such a thing would work off the top of my head... i never got that far in the thought process =) - -- Aaron J.
