 Chance: This BR is about the search-replace plugin. Unless I'm mistaken you are talking about the katepart replace dialog, which is something else entirely. What you are describing indeed sounds like a bug, but it has absolutely nothing to do with this report. File a new bug report instead (but first try to make sure it's not already reported, I suspect it is).

 Andreas: This is in KDev3 parts/replace. I haven't kept up, I have no idea if this relates to KDev4 at all.
