Same problem with VI mode and "multiple lines" mouse selection. The bookmark
will be created when you select more lines and after ESC or click in other
point to lose selection.
eg:
1. Selection of 3 lines in top-bottom direction creates 2 bookmarks, one on
first line and one on last.
2. Selection of 3 lines in bottom-top direction creates 1 bookmark on last line
of selection.

*New selection deletes old bookmarks (created with this "bug") and create new
