Summary: Mouse frozen for entire window manager if breakpoint
triggered in some scenarios
Product: kdevelop
Version: 4.2.2
Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: CPP Debugger
AssignedTo: kdevelop-bugs@kdevelop.org
ReportedBy: mmacleod@webmail.co.za
Version: 4.2.2 (using KDE 4.6.5)
OS: Linux
If a break point triggers during a drag event (or presumably anything else that
grabs mouse focus) then the entire window manager becomes unusable.
This is likely because the program with mouse focus is "frozen" and cannot
release the focus - The only way to regain mouse usage seems to be to kill -9
the program that is being debugged.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Set a breakpoint that will trigger when doing something that captures the
mouse, like a drag event.
2) Perform drag event
3) Observe that it is no longer possible to manipulate the window manager with
the mouse
Actual Results:
Ability to use mouse lost
Expected Results:
Mouse should still be usable. I'm not sure how exactly this would be achieved,
presumably there are some challenges in doing this.
I ran into this while testing a wxGTK program - so its possible that it doesn't
happen with e.g. kdelibs programs as they might grab the mouse differently - I
suspect it will happen for both though.
