It's been a while since this system was setup, but kdevelop seems to still be
crashing in the same way.

here's the git results:
chrisb@io1 [~]% git --version
git: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.6: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
Exit 127

I know there is a way around the crypto error that was developed for Maya. 
I'll report back if I can get git working right or I make some other progress.
