Why would you want that though?  I can see no sense in that decision.
Whitespaces are inherently invisible, so it least make it so that one can see
them, if you wish to keep them in there...  It really makes debugging ones
inputs a pain.  I will give you an example of the input that caused me a lot of
grief (can you tell the difference by eye?):

ROOTSYS   /local/scratch/root_5_28/bin

vs

ROOTSYS   /local/scratch/root_5_28/bin 

Hope this helps to clear the matter up.
