is this reproducible? could it maybe be a "out of memory" assert or similar?
What do you see on the command line when the app crashes, some malloc message
maybe?

if it is reproducible, can you tell me your exact amount of available memory
and what projects you loaded, than I'll try to do it myself. And maybe run it
through massif to see where so much memory is consumed, though I fear it
"simply" might be the huge memory fragmentization problem once again.
